Look, I know it’s IPA Day and we’re all super jazzed about that. And, yes, I know that this isn’t an IPA. But it IS an astronaut surfing in 375ml of tasty, tasty Almanac sour. So kick off your shoes, put down the IPA for a minute and take a quick dip into this one.
Almanac Beer Co. has some world-class design skills in-house, but that hasn’t stopped them from teaming up with some very talented folks for special release labels. Tropical Galaxy is a sour farmhouse ale dry-hopped with Galaxy hops and aged in oak barrels with mango, lime and coconut. Design firm DKNG is back at the helm for this release, and as they explain, “The name immediately conjured up imagery of 1960s sci-fi wrapped in a tropical vacation. We landed on a beach scene of an astronaut preparing to ride the waves of an alien planet, surrounded by the beer’s ingredients, along with some friendly alien wildlife.”
“This project also gave us the opportunity to embrace the sci-fi cinema look by creating a limited edition poster to commemorate the beer’s release. The poster is an 18″ x 24″ 5 color screen print on rainbow metallic foil paper, giving the print a sparkling intergalactic appearance.”
From Almanac: “Tropical Galaxy is a cosmic elixir of lush equatorial flavors. We blended mangoes, lime and coconut together in oak foedres with our farmhouse-brett base beer to create a far out and funky tropical treat. We finished it with a generous dry-hopping of Australian Galaxy Hops, contributing aromas of passionfruit and citrus. Enjoy on your next intergalactic odyssey with fresh crab, jerk chicken or scallop ceviche.”
