Twinkler Bottle

Firefly Hollow Brewing

Designer Nick Gamma explains his label designs for Bristol, CT’s Firefly Hollow Brewing:

Given the name of the brewery and the name Twinkler, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to present a firefly. I created this collage/illustration using old engravings of different insects to make the firefly. I felt that the design direction tied into the breweries steampunk ethos and the beer style in a more traditional way.

Firefly Hollow Photon

When they told me the name Photon, I loved it. Once I started to think about the name and the fact that it was a crimson ale, I came up with the idea of a character named Photon who is the Imperial ruler of Mars, the red planet. The brewery itself has a very steampunk ethos. I decided to create a version of Photon the Imperial Ruler using photo collage/illustration that worked with their ethos in a contemporary way. All hail Photon Imperial Ruler!
