Bogus Brewing is a Community-Supported Brewery (CSB) that happens to be right in our backyard in Boise, Idaho. The owner, Collin Rudeen, approached us with the idea of a CSB as a way to meet the thirst-related needs of our community. In order to reflect the nano-brewing concept, we needed a design system for the labels that could be quickly executed. By using quick illustrative sketches we are able to capture the backstory for each variety.
Given the grassroots approach, each label is an homage to local Idaho people, figures, or groups. For example, “Hip Check IPA” celebrates our local roller derby team, the Treasure Valley Roller Girls, and “Hard Guy Saison” references a fairly technical mountain biking trail in the Boise Foothills. The community supports the brewery, while the brewery proudly supports the community.
