From the brewery that brought you a 55% alcohol beer packaged in a dead squirrel comes this punk rock packaging. BrewDog is certainly setting itself apart from the typical Scottish alcohol producers &emdash; you know, the ones with the elegant typography, coat of arms and bits of plaid. The BrewDog shield seems to stick its tongue out at all of that tradition.
This radical branding came under fire in 2008 from The Portman Group, a social responsibility body composed of large UK breweries. They called for the company’s bottles to be pulled from the shelves for “sexing up” alcohol and encouraging anti-social behaviour.
But, thankfully, good design prevailed in the end. Celebrate with this video:
